As part of an extensive urban regeneration effort, CDP International was commissioned to develop a Civil Defense facility in Al-Khaskiyya, Jeddah. The project encompassed the full design scope from pre-concept studies to IFC drawings, ensuring compliance with both heritage guidelines and operational requirements.
The design narrative explored three architectural alternatives, each balancing heritage and innovation:
· A canopy inspired by traditional Hejazi craftsmanship and patterns.
· A softer, plaster-like interpretation that integrates with the historic urban fabric.
· A contemporary solution influenced by modern louvers, echoing parapet details.
Internally, the building accommodates specialized spaces for training, seating areas, prayer, storage, and dormitories. Materials such as coral stone, Iroko wood, and traditional screen patterns were reinterpreted in a modern context, achieving both cultural continuity and technical efficiency.
